Give It a GO

I started 2025 by choosing GO as my word of the year.

For the past three years of my sobriety, choosing a word of the year has been a helpful practice. Having a word and imagery to return to throughout the year keeps me aligned with my best intentions and goals—reminders of what I set out to focus on at the beginning of the year, which might otherwise fade as time marches on.

I once heard Peloton coach Robin Arzón use the mental image of a green light and the word GO as a prompt to push through challenging moments during a long run. I’m not a runner, but this imagery and mantra have been invaluable when I feel sluggish or deflated.

I had a plan to launch my coaching business in 2025. I started preparing last summer when I was nearing the completion of my coach training with the International Association of Professional Recovery Coaches. I signed up with Squarespace, secured a domain name, and began building my website. I had no prior experience with web design, and while I found Squarespace to be user-friendly, I’ll admit there were many hours of pure confusion and frustration as I slowly figured it all out. GO.

After the new year, I registered my LLC and officially started my business, Tifani Blouin Coaching LLC. I also filled out the form incorrectly, had to resubmit it, and ended up paying twice. That mistake led to a few days of thinking, I can’t do this, I obviously shouldn’t bother, I messed up the form—I should just quit. GO.

Before launching the website I had been working on for months, I wanted to open a business banking account. In my mind, I imagined myself as the woman in a business banking commercial—setting it all up effortlessly from her laptop at home while the narrator confidently proclaims, "It’s never been easier to start your business banking." I thought I’d just fill out some forms online, and everything would fall into place.

No ma’am.

Instead, I spent plenty of time filling out forms online, waiting for calls telling me, this won’t work, and troubleshooting until I finally found the right fit. After a drive to a local branch to make my opening cash deposit in person, I officially had a business bank account. GO.

So yes, I’m very excited to announce that I am open for business, available for hire, and ready for the next phases of being a solopreneur! You can find me at www.tifaniblouin.com.

We are constantly being sold an easy button—instant gratification at the touch of a screen. Alcohol is an easy button. Shopping is an easy button. Scrolling is an easy button.

But there is no easy button for getting sober. There is no easy button for changing a habit. It takes effort, failure, and perseverance. And most importantly, it takes time to figure it out.

And I know you can and will figure it out. My work as a coach has shown me time and time again that change is possible—you are capable of more than you think. GO.

Thank you for reading this. I hope you'll come back. I'll be over here.
